Snoring
What Can Cause Snoring?
There are a number of things that can cause snoring for residents in San Antonio, Texas. Snoring is a harsh or hoarse sound that happens when air flows past relaxed tissues in the throat, causing the tissues to vibrate when you breathe.

The Mouth Anatomy: Having a thick or low palate can narrow your airway. Those who are overweight can also have extra tissues in the back of the throat that narrow airways.

Alcohol Consumption: Drinking too much alcohol before bedtime can also cause snoring. This is because alcohol will relax the throat muscles and decrease natural defenses against any airway obstruction.

Nasal Problems: A crooked partition between the nostrils, such as a deviated nasal spectrum or chronic nasal congestion, can lead to snoring.

Sleep Deprivation: Ironically, not getting enough sleep also leads to further throat relaxation and snoring.

Sleep Position: Snoring can be louder and more frequent when sleeping on our back because of the effects of gravity.
